How to setup Asterisk ver. 1.8 when using Express TalkUsing Express Talk with Asterisk 1.8 - The Asterisk server must first be properly installed and configured (make sure all the appropriate config files are in place; installing the asterisk-config package should put all the appropriate default files in place). - Make sure that all firewalls and routers are properly configured. - If the Asterisk server is restarted (or any changes are applied), Express Talk should be restarted. - The default settings provided by the asterisk-gui (a separate package from asterisk server which is usually not installed by default; see asterisk documentation for details on how to install asterisk-gui with your distribution) work fine, after setting the correct extension and password. Settings that have been tested to work with Talk 4.23 and Asterisk 1.8.7.0 (this is not a complete list, extension and dialing plan specifics are needed):
